Greens restaurant in West Didsbury is the restaurant to go to if you have a craving for a succulent vegetarian meal. Head chef Simon Rimmer opened the restaurant in 1990, and has been offering the best vegetarian cuisine in Manchester ever since.

 

The food at Greens is exceptional, the ingredients are fresh and the taste of each dish is just amazing. We started our culinary adventure by sharing a plate of Patatas bravas with a blackpudding crumb, mojo sauce and garlic aioli. The patatas bravas were a little bit spicy for us but the flavour was still there. In the mouth, a subtle aftertaste of hazelnut from the baby potatoes was contrasted by the spicy mojo sauce and garlic aioli, much to our delight.

 

Following this beautiful starter, we had the Spinach, pistachio and feta filo pie with tomato and cinnamon sauce and roasted plum tomatoes and the Halloumi tacos with tomato salsa, guacamole, sour cream and skin on fries. And here again, the flavours were amazing. The tomato and cinnamon sauce of the pie was succulent and reminded me of my childhood when I was eating sundried tomatoes under the sun in the south of France. The combination between the crunchy filo pie and the smoothness of the sauce was just perfect. As for the tacos, the taste of the grilled halloumi was enhanced by the flavour of the fresh ginger.

 

On that day we felt like food explorers and so we finished this gastronomy exploration by sharing a white chocolate and hazelnut blondie with raspberry eton mess. The dessert ended this lunch meal in an amazing way and left us dreaming about new flavour.
